Does aluminium corrode in water1/27/2024 Without even emphasizing the harmful effects of the aluminum on the body (such as its direct correlation with Alzheimer's) since most water treatment processes include aluminum use anyway (not to mention any of the other plethora of products and methods exposing us to aluminum.) Considering the HCl mentioned in said quote would probably exceed in urgency. That being said I would venture to suspect this build-up is observed more greatly in times when the sun heats the aluminum of your ladder. The product is aluminum chloride, a white powder that fumes in air, reacting with water to form HCl gas and aluminum oxide." "Aluminum and chlorine do not react rapidly at room temperature, but if the aluminum is heated, the reaction is vigorous. ![]() the bar is much larger than a bike frame! So I'll have to go the protective rust coat route.įrom a chemical perspective, although salt crystals may closely resemble what you are observing my hypothesis is that the white powder build-up is aluminum chloride. "ĭon't think anodizing is going to be a possibility. I would limit yourself to anodizing aluminium in fairly small amounts - if you want to anodize a large object you need a lot of electrical power and a lot of acid, so if you want to do an entire bike frame in one go, I suggest you contact an aluminium anodizing company. Typically of course, black is supposed to be one of the most difficult colours to achieve and commercial black anodizing dye fetches the highest price.Īnodizing aluminium (or indeed anodizing aluminum) is a fairly simple process, and providing you can lay your hands on the correct chemicals (ie sulfuric acid) it is fairly straightforward to do simple diy anodizing aluminium in the home. With optical applications, black is the most popular anodizing colour to reduce internal reflections. This can be used to great artistic effect, producing aluminium parts with strikingly tasteless colours to adorn your motor bike or, more topically, telescope. ![]() The layer is then sealed and the colour appears as part of the aluminium metal itself. Coloured dye seeps into the microscopic pores of the anodized layer and colours it. The other advantage of anodizing aluminium is the potential of coloured anodizing dye. This is known as anodizing - so called because the aluminium part forms the anode in the electrolysis bath. The process involves suspending the aluminium in and acid bath and passing an electric current through the it. Using chemical processes it is possible to build a carefully controlled layer of aluminium hydroxide on the surface of the metal which is extremely hard - much harder and more durable than the rough natural oxidised layer that normally forms. ![]() Thankfully for the aluminum industry there is a technique which overcomes the inherent softness of the metal and protects against further oxidation. After a period of time the aluminium "rusts" - slowly producing a white powdery coat. This is why aluminium is known for its resilience in corrosive environments - eg car radiators or boats. However, with aluminium a rough layer of aluminium oxide forms which strongly inhibits further oxidation. Aluminium is more reactive than iron, and, as such, will rust more readily. It oxidises quite readily to produce iron oxide - or rust as it's more commonly known. We are familiar with the action of the environment on iron. ![]() "Chemically speaking, aluminium is an extremely reactive metal. Station 19 new episode1/27/2024 ![]() Sometimes they even do that while other women also occupy positions in the same department. I wonder if some people have an issue with this show because it features so many strong female characters and they feel uncomfortable with the concept that women are people too and highly capable of doing the same jobs as men. I have loved the charater development and the interactions between the characters. I have thoroughly enjoyed every episode of the first season. It is a spin off from Grey's Anatomy so you're looking at the same level of melodrama that has kept that show on air for 13 years. This is a show designed to entertain not inform. For anyone looking for a highly realistic show about firefighters or paramedics, police or doctors, this is not the show for you. Buh bye.īreaking news - this is not a documentary. Well 1) nothing about Seattle obviously, and zero action. I never got into Grey's Anatomy for the same reason, but I thought way back I'd give this a chance because Seattle is close to hometown and I love the action stuff. The only other time they've been in the truck and it's just a backdrop for more lover spat crap. I have the new episode on in the background right now waiting for my Law and order to come on, and there has been one scene of approximately 3 minutes total at the site of an actual fire. There's a reason why Dick Wolf has been so successful for so many years. ![]() If you're looking for really super well written plots and story lines, and action, and dialogue and social and personal struggles all squeezed in between 60 minutes of actual firefighting, go over to Chicago Fire. Listen if that's what you're looking for, then you should watch this. No surprise this is attached to Grey's Anatomy. The rest of the episodes are all characters in their love triangles or disputes. And just like a Hallmark movie, they have a bunch of equipment and props laying around that get polished maybe once an episode. They just needed a fresh setting to stage a bunch of relationship drama. I don't, and considering many of the other reviews here I'm not alone in this. Fact that this happens to so many series tells me people like drama. I just finished season 3 and likely will stop watching this disaster soon. It could've been good, there's a lot of potential, but as per usual bad writing doesn't give that a chance to work it's magic. They throw so much at us in one episode your head starts spinning. What are they trying to do? Create an emotional disaster series? Sullivan in hospital, about to get surgery and Andy barges in last minute to whinge about her own problems. Unfortunately writers have to ruin that too. Then finally something good, Andy marries Sullivan and they really seem made for one another. Why does everything have to be politically correct? It utterly boring and annoying at the same time. Too much gay & lesbian intricacies and sex. Totally unbelievable, and totally unacceptable for people who have to save lives. Everyone is sleeping with everyone, sometimes one character swaps from one to other and back. But then they do what they always do with every series: introduce too much drama and too many side stories that have nothing whatsoever to do with firefighting. I almost left right there and then but gave it a try and yep, it got good. First 2 episodes I had to get into it as it all was about this main character Andy shouting and putting her mark on everything and bossing everyone around.
